Description
The Church in Mission Unit is seeking an individual to fill the role of Refugee Sponsorship Support for the Private Sponsorship of Refugees as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program for 2024. This is an 8 week program at 35 hours per week with an anticipated start date in the first week of June.
The successful Candidate will learn to create new resources about the Private Refugee Sponsorship Program in Canada. Their inter-personal skills and cultural awareness will be developed as they interface with Communities of Faith who are from various countries and cultural backgrounds.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Receiving and acknowledging refugee application packages;
- Checking for accuracy and updating refugee submission lists using government reports;
- Update databases and lists.
Qualifications
- Youth between the ages of 15 to 30 are eligible to apply for this position
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Good verbal and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and results oriented
- Working knowledge of databases
- Experience with Microsoft office
- Good customer service
- Knowledge and basic understanding of the United Church is an asset

Compensation
Salary will be at $21.13 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
