Holy One,
when the forces of nature
at their fullest,
meet the works of humankind,
we find out that we,
and all we create,
are ephemeral—
no matter how strong we make them.
We give thanks, though,
that we have places of shelter,
where we can find safety,
with one another,
with you.
Help us to help those
who have lost livelihood and home
because of the storm.
Help us to be neighbour
to friend and stranger,
to be safe haven
in the repair and the rebuilding.
Amen and amen.
