We are seeking one person who understands the United Church well and enjoys respectful dialogue about our faith with other denominations. The Dialogue group is made up of five elected members and one staff person from each church. The group determines its agenda in consultation with the two sponsoring bodies. In its next meetings the Dialogue will explore ministry, with emphasis on the ministries of all the people of God, and the role of lay people within the ministry and mission of the church.
The Dialogue is seeking one lay or ordered member who has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of The United Church of Canada ethos, theology, doctrine, and polity, preferably with a strong academic theological background.
Specific skills and experience that would be assets to this work include a good understanding of and personal commitment to dialogue with different denominational expressions of Christian faith, strong capacity to participate in theological dialogue, and knowledge and understanding of cross-cultural experience. Members who identify as Indigenous, racialized, or from other marginalized communities are particularly encouraged to express interest.
