Mission Support Working Group (6 vacancies)
The Mission Support Working Group will assess applications from Indigenous Communities of faith and apportion grant requests in accordance with the current strategy. Amongst other responsibilities, the working group prepares quarterly report narratives, develops an effective communication strategy, and ensures that the policies and procedures related to Mission Support grants are aligned with the principles and values outlined in the Calls to the Church.
Skills: We are looking for lay and ordered members who have knowledge of Indigenous community, culture and practices, as well as skills in financial analysis, knowledge of the United Church’s personnel policy, creative thinking or an understanding of the complex nature of community ministry and pastoral care. All members will be good stewards, have an openness to diversity and an understanding of the Mission and Service Fund.
Membership & Expectations: The working group will be made up of seven members, including one member of the National Indigenous Organization. Appointments are for approximately three years (between meetings of the National Indigenous Spiritual Gathering) with the possibility of reappointment for a second three-year term. Meetings by videoconference will occur monthly for the first three months of the appointment and then every other month. The group will meet in-person once each year.
