- Meet with church leaders, youth, community groups, congregations, theologians, and students
- Stay in a local community and see Cuba through the eyes of Cubans
- Experience the beauty of Cuban art, culture, and music
- Learn more about Cuban history and context
- Encounter the vibrant faith and warm hospitality of Cubans
- Be inspired and empowered to engage in mission and ministry in your own context
The Study Tour will be hosted by United Church of Canada Mission & Service partner, Evangelical Seminary of Theology (SET) in Matanzas, Cuba.
The study tour is a program of the Montreal School of Theology. It offers a deep intercultural encounter of being and witnessing being church in a different context. Regular reflections will touch on the question of how the experience informs participants’ perspectives on being Missional as church.
You do not need to be a student at the Montreal School of Theology, or in Montreal to participate.
Orientation (online participation is possible): October 9, 2019 7-9 pm
Study Tour: January 3-10, 2020
$2400 per person includes travel from Montreal, meals, and accommodation. Participants will cover costs of vaccinations, insurance and travel to Montreal. $500 deposit must accompany applications. It may be possible to fly directly to Cuba if you are a significant distance from Montreal. The cost for participants making their own travel arrangements to and from Cuba will be approximately $1,400.
People in Partnership believes that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in such programs. If the cost of an opportunity presents a barrier, please contact us at pip [at] united-church.ca to find out more about alternate means of resourcing and financial support.
