The United Church of Canada has received the news of Rev. Timothy Milley's arrest from Peel Regional Police. The United Church is committed to cooperating fully with the police investigation and the court proceedings for these grave charges.

Rev. Milley is suspended from functioning as ministry personnel until the final disposition of the criminal charges and the church’s response to that disposition. This suspension includes not only no longer serving in his community of faith (congregation), but also in any other church or community activity of which he is a part because he is ministry personnel. Until the charges have been dealt with by the courts, the United Church will not be commenting on this further other than to say we have confidence in our justice system.

The United Church will seek to provide all those involved in this situation with pastoral care and spiritual support at this difficult time.
