Food is more than a human right; it is a gift that reminds us God is with us, always accompanying us. We are called to pray for and accompany our sisters and brothers who are facing extreme hunger, so that they may live without hunger and with dignity, experiencing the grace and love of God.

The United Church of Canada has accepted an invitation from The World Council of Churches and the All Africa Conference of Churches to observe the second Global Day of Prayer to End Famine on June 10, 2018. This day plays a critical role in raising awareness of what continues to be an underreported and unfolding tragedy.
People of faith have a profound role to play in mobilizing family, friends, and wider society as well as governments during this unprecedented period of suffering. United Church individuals and communities of faith are invited join with people of faith around the world to pray for relief for all who are burdened by extreme hunger.
