The United Church of Canada/L'Église Unie du Canada
United Church of Canada congregations and church-related bodies are constantly faced with such questions. Mission and Investing: A Guide for United Church of Canada Congregations and Organizations is a resource designed to assist United Church members, particularly trustees of congregations and other church-related organizations, explore their financial management options and find solutions which are both responsible and ethical.
While aimed at congregations, Mission and Investing also contains information that is relevant for Presbyteries and Conferences, as well as other charitable trusts and individuals.
Mission and Investing: A Guide for United Church of Canada Congregations and Organizations addresses issues of uncertainty about legal and practical questions, and provides information on the range of opportunities and sources of assistance for the implementation of socially responsible investment policies and practices.
Mission and Investing will help congregations and church-related organizations make investments decisions the are ethical, responsible, and a sign of our commitment to the mission of God in the world.
Mission and Investing was published in response to a resolution in the report To Seek Justice and Resist Evil: Towards a Global Economy for All God's People. The resolution (see pg. 30) called for "an instrument for ethical evaluation of investments available to all United Church member, congregations and related organizations." In August 2000, General Council 37 recommended To Seek Justice and Resist Evil for study and implementation in all spheres of the church's life.
