The United Church of Canada/L'Église Unie du CanadaIn 2009, the 40th General Council of The United Church of Canada/L'Église Unie du Canada renewed its commitment to offering Ministries in French as an integral part of the collective mission, ministry, and identity of The United Church of Canada/L'Église Unie du Canada. The General Council made a clear commitment to the support and development of new ministries in an "Emergent Church" as a key priority of its planning for the next triennium. The vision for this project is to provide a vehicle, articulating vision and process, that will empower our church to respond faithfully to the call of engaging God's mission and call as it pertains specifically to Ministries in French and the emerging French-speaking church.
In accordance with the decision of the 40th General Council, funding will be granted to French-speaking and bilingual communities across Canada, with a particular emphasis, in the initial phase, on Conferences that have stated development of Ministries in French as a goal in a favourable context. The project does not assume a specific model for the creation of new ministries, but the creation of space and processes for new models to emerge.
