International Day of Peace
September 21 is the International Day of Peace. Established by the United Nations in 1981, “Peace Day” is an opportunity for everyone to promote peace personally, politically, and communally. Churches around the world are invited into prayer and reflection around peace on this day, or the Sunday closest to it. The World Council of Churches
, among other ecumenical groups, is marking the International Day of Peace on September 21.
These worship resources are based on the themes from the International Ecumenical Peace Convocation held in Kingston, Jamaica, in May 2011:
