The Aboriginal Ministries Circle works in partnership across The United Church of Canada toward a vision of spiritual healing, stewardship, and economic well-being that creates capacity for strong and vibrant ministry leadership in Aboriginal communities and the whole church.
The Communications Unit supports the General Council Office and the denomination by presenting the public face of The United Church of Canada through a variety of media and services. The Unit’s work nourishes congregational life, personal spiritual formation, and effective administration of the church through social media, web services, archives, public and media relations, statistics management, and the production and distribution of print and multimedia resources.
Communities in Ministry/Communautés et ministères works in partnership with Conferences and presbyteries/districts to strengthen and connect congregations and ministries across the United Church, including French ministries, minority ethnic ministries, community ministries, educational centres, theological schools, deaf ministries, camps, chaplaincies, campus ministries and seniors’ residences.
The mission of the Finance Unit is to provide efficient and effective financial accounting and management functions for the General Council Office of The United Church of Canada, including the broad areas of revenue, expenditures, assets, liabilities, financial reserves, budgeting, financial reporting, investments and risk management. The Finance Unit also has responsibility for the information technology needs of the General Council Office and Distribution Centre.
The Ministry and Employment Unit is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing policies and programs relating to active and retired ministry personnel across the church and General Council and Conference office staff. The Unit also supports and facilitates just, fair, and equitable employment conditions and structures across all employing units of The United Church of Canada. The areas of responsibility of the Ministry and Employment Unit are recruitment, admissions, vocational development and assessment, ministry support and pastoral relations, compensation, and health, dental, and pension plans.
The Office of the Moderator and General Secretary provides planning and coordination for, and support to, the General Council, its Executive, and the Moderator. The General Secretary has responsibility for the coordination and integration of the people and programs of the General Council.
The Partners in Mission Unit is responsible for justice initiatives, global partnerships, and building right relations in an ecumenical and interfaith and global context. It provides opportunities for the people of The United Church of Canada to respond to God’s call to build a sustainable Earth community and life-giving economies, and resist systems of domination and exclusion by engaging in God's mission of justice, peace, and care of creation, locally and globally.
The Philanthropy Unit works to establish a secure funding base for the holistic mission and ministry of The United Church of Canada, and provide opportunities for people to respond in gratitude to all that God has given them.
