A special electronic meeting of General Council 42 (GC42) Commissioners will be held on September 30. They will be discussing four proposals arising from the remits that have now been approved by a majority of pastoral charges and presbyteries.

These include a Mandate and Nominating Process for the GC43 Executive. This proposal asks the Nominating Committee of the 42nd Executive of the General Council to recommend 15 members, who would serve—along with the Moderator and the General Secretary—as the Executive of the General Council from January 1, 2019, until the next Executive is installed by the next General/Denominational Council in 2021.

Commissioners will also be asked to approve a Mandate for the Boundaries Commission, plus the names of the seven to nine persons who will serve on it. After consultation across the church, the Commission will determine the boundaries for the regions, as envisioned in Remit 1. Any changes brought about by the remits will not be final unless and until they are approved by the 43rd General Council.

The meeting will start at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, with Commissioners connecting from the comfort of their own homes through the Internet or phone. Members of the public can register as guests to watch the special GC42 meeting.
