Learn about root causes of violence and peacemaking in Canada and around the world; act through worship and advocacy; and give to support Canadian and global partners as they work for peace with justice for all people.

About United for Peace

The campaign began out of concern for the situation in Israel and Palestine, then broadened to work for just peace in other parts of the world including Canada. Read the FAQs to learn more!

Advocacy Campaign

In this second year of the United for Peace Campaign, the key focus is on taking action with our governments to promote peace, particularly in Canada, Israel/Palestine, the Philippines, and Colombia.

Education and Worship Resources

A new worship service that focuses on the advocacy campaign, a two-DVD set with five-session study guide, a seven-session Bible study, and other great resources are available online and from UCRD.

Fundraising Resources

Olivewood pins, peace dove cookie cutters, and other items are available from UCRD to support fundraising efforts at the congregational level. Also view a video on the making of the pins.

Grants to Partners

A vital goal of the United for Peace Campaign is to raise $2 million over two years to support partner work for peace.

Youth for Peace Trip

Sixteen United Church of Canada youth and young adults, accompanied by three mission trip leaders, spent May 19–26, 2009, experiencing first-hand the complex peace issues of the Middle East. This is part of the United Church's work to understand its role and relationship with people, including refugees, living with injustice and violence. The trip was a transformational experience. All participants were touched by the circumstances in which the people of Palestine and Israel find themselves, particularly the challenging situation of many Palestinians. Returning to their home communities, trip participants will share experiences, stories, and personal learnings from the trip. Read Craig Gibb's reflection on his experience [PDF: 1 p/18 KB].

The next Youth for Peace trip, May 4-7, 2010 will explore issues of peace and conflict in Colombia.
