They are united in their dedication and passion to strengthen and enrich the church. They have felt a calling to serve in this way, that has been affirmed by others.

We are committed to proactively address inequities and historic patterns of exclusion. Throughout our nominations and appointment processes, we aspire to balance voices, perspectives, lived experience, and interests within each committee and among all those serving the General Council.
Each of us comes from and is shaped by a wide range of cultural contexts and identities, including our racial and ethnic background, geographic location, gender, sexual orientation, vocation and economic reality. All members are encouraged to reflect on how these gifts contribute to the perspectives and wisdom they bring to the role.
Members and adherents of The United Church of Canada are eligible to serve on its committees and task groups. Membership is a requirement to serve as a committee chair or as a representative of the United Church to another organization.
Staff members of the General Council Office and Conferences are not eligible for appointment.
