What does church look like in the 21st century? What does it mean to lead with imagination and courage as we live out the Christian story in our communities? And how do we harness the power of narrative storytelling in our leadership? Ministry staff and congregation members will share stories, explore new expressions of church and ministry, and engage with the latest leadership strategies to help you cope with change! Enjoy music, community, and creativity while we celebrate the new thing God is bringing forth!
Holy Shift is a dynamic learning conference for congregation members, staff and clergy to share ideas, connect and dream about the unfolding of Spirit in their communities. Held in Parksville at Knox United on Oct 20-22, this year features Beth Ann Estock, author of Weird Church: Welcome to the 21st Century, and Kelli Walker-Jones, author of Know Your Story and Lead with It: The Power of Narrative in Clergy Leadership. Her book meshes spiral dynamics with analysis and examples of new expressions of faith communities in the 21st century.
Knowing your story is an essential component of effective leadership, but finding your story isn’t a simple task. Kelli Walker-Jones offers a path to finding your own story amid the powerful family and cultural narratives that may be obscuring your vision. Her work as a minister and educator at Duke Divinity has led her to show leaders how to explore their story of reality, tell it to other group members, and consider how it can be used as a resource for leadership.
Other workshops include: Right relationships—working with First Nations communities, Adaptive leadership, Building your discipleship programs, Church plants and intentional Christian communities, and more!
Cost: $150; $900 for a group of 6 or more
