Disasters are frightening events. They can happen without warning (such as an earthquake or flood), or take place slowly (in the case of a war that gradually erodes the social fabric of a people). While sometimes portrayed as helpless victims, people in the midst of disaster are often very innovative survivors.
This brochure attempts to answer two frequently asked questions: "How is the United Church responding?" and "What can I do?"
The brochure also places these questions within a broader context of engagement with global partners in both the rehabilitation and reconstruction of their communities and the long term process of development. The brochure was developed ecumenically with the participation of The United Church of Canada, The Anglican Church of Canada and The Presbyterian Church in Canada.
