The United Church of Canada/L'Église Unie du CanadaDecember 1, 2010
I am pleased to announce that the Rev. Robert Dalgleish has been appointed Executive Director of the Network for Ministry Development, effective November 15, 2010.
The Network for Ministry Development is a new initiative that was approved by the Executive of the General Council in May 2010. The Network for Ministry Development will engage ministries and leaders in a process of renewal, learning, and innovation toward vital and sustainable mission. It will provide services to strengthen congregations and other ministries by using innovative service delivery models that allow flexibility to respond to local needs. It will also be a platform by which practitioners can benefit from the rich resources of faith, insight, inspiration, and competence that exist in and outside the church, using direct animation, workshops, events, and Web portals.
Rob has been on staff at the General Council Office for five years as Program Coordinator for Congregational Renewal. In that role, he initiated events such as More Franchises, which highlighted models of ministry and best practices across the United Church, and the Environics program, which helps congregations develop new and stronger relationships and more effective mission. He holds a Master of Divinity from Emmanuel College, and has been working on a Doctor of Ministry degree at the Toronto School of Theology. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from McMaster University. Rob brings to his new role 15 years of experience in pastoral ministry in The United Church of Canada.
The initial staff team for the Network for Ministry Development will also include Lesley Harrison, formerly of Emerging Spirit, as Network Animator, and Joanne Rose, who will serve as Administrative Coordinator of the Network. Additional staff and network associates will be added as the Network develops.
