The United Church of Canada/L'Église Unie du CanadaThe Board of the Five Oaks education and retreat centre is excited to announce that following a search, it has hired Melissa Connor as the new Director.
Melissa is an active member of Burford United Church in Hamilton Conference, and has been looking for an opportunity to use her skills to benefit the work of the church. She has a social work background with a Bachelor of Arts, Childhood and Family Relations, degree from the University of Western Ontario.
While at VON (Victorian Order of Nurses) Oxford, Melissa recruited and hired staff and volunteers, developed community partnerships, worked on marketing, financial, and fundraising plans, and played an instrumental role in the growth and development of Sakura Hospice House in Oxford County. Currently, Melissa is the Manager of Child and Family Services at the Family Counselling Centre of Brant. In this role, she manages many different programs and staff, collaborates with community partners, and handles all aspects of implementing the strategic plan.
