To assist Ontario congregations and other ministries to meet the amended Ontario Health and Safety Act and the requirements for workplace violence and harassment, Bill 168: What Do We Do Now?
[PDF: 2 pp/36 KB] is an outline of the steps involved. The tool identifies the minimum steps needed as well as some valuable online resources to assist congregations/ministries in the process.
A General Council policy has been developed for the General Council Office and Conference offices. Congregations and ministries will find Policy 3.4: Harassment and Workplace Violence in the Human Resources Policy Manual a useful starting point to develop their own policy specific to their specific ministry.
As the legislation came into effect June 15, 2010, it is important that all ministries demonstrate an intent to comply by showing that they are aware of the legislation and that steps are in place to begin addressing the issues.
