The United Church of Canada/L'Église Unie du CanadaJune 14, 2010
In 2009, during the 40th General Council of The United Church of Canada/L’Église Unie du Canada, the council renewed its commitment to including Ministries in French as an integral part of the collective mission, ministry, and identity of The United Church of Canada/L’Église Unie du Canada. The General Council made a clear commitment to the support and development of new ministries in an “Emergent Church” as a key priority of its planning for the next triennium.
This project is meant to provide a means of empowering our church to respond faithfully to the call of engaging God’s mission and call as it pertains to Ministries in French and the emerging French-speaking church. In the creation of new ministries in French-speaking and bilingual communities, we will help enable the church to rediscover its vocation of developing vibrant new ministries in the emerging church around us, which will nurture our church’s transformation and renewal.
In accordance with the decision of the 40th General Council, funding for a maximum of $100,000 per year will be available per application for a sustained funding period of five years per project. After five years, in order to both sustain the ministry and encourage financial responsibility, financial support will continue but will taper off at 20 percent per year over the next five-year period.
