Speak Out against Free Trade with Colombia—Protect Human Rights

New legislation to implement the Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement has been put before Parliament and labelled a "top priority."
In August 2009, the United Church's General Council called on the Government of Canada to reject the Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement. Commissioners called for
- full parliamentary and public debate
- full human rights impact assessment
- a new approach to trade that would improve the conditions of those affected by violence, conflict, and poverty
