The scholarly publications of Dr. Marilyn J. Legge, the United Church’s 2010 Davidson Trust Award winner, are now available online
.
The focus of Dr. Legge’s recent research is theological education and intercultural ethics.
Her writings will be of particular interest to pastoral, social justice, and intercultural committees because of Dr. Legge’s focus “to be advocates of justice and love, which ground our theological work and practices of faith.”
For example, the urgent question coming from today’s context is, Do Christians have the capacity to intersect with different and other perspectives and realities? Dr. Legge says, “The response to becoming an intercultural church is a qualified yes—qualified because it is contingent on taking different roads to seek racial and intercultural right relations which inspire all to become self-respecting, other-regarding persons. The theological virtues of faith, hope, and love serve to keep the kindom of God as the horizon of all faith practices.”
United Church members and adherents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to read Dr. Legge’s papers on Christian social ethics, including on becoming an intercultural church.
