Mandate is marking its 40th birthday by making major changes.

It still continues to offer stories of people and churches near and far, programs for mission, advocacy, and social justice, plus information on what the United Church is saying and doing.

Starting in November, along with a fresh new look, Mandate has added 16 more pages to include hands-on tools for congregational development, leadership, outreach, and faith formation.

There are more ready-to-use workshops, Bible studies, and worship ideas, plus a pull-out section filled with activities for leaders of children and youth.

The changes are in response to needs expressed by congregations. Considerable research from focus groups, congregational surveys, and a panel of experts were compiled and helped shape the end result.
