Michaël Séguin from Montreal and Ottawa Conference has been appointed to the World Council of Churches' Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) for a three month, renewable term (Stream "C" appointment). He joined the EAPPI' s Group 23, which took up its responsibilities in mid-July. He will be the sixth "Ecumenical Accompanier" sent by The United Church of Canada. The previous five were: Tad Mitsui (ANW Conference) in 2003, Laura Sundberg (Saskatchewan Conference) in 2004, Desmond Parsons (Newfoundland and Labrador Conference) in 2005, David LeGrand (Manitou Conference), and Larry Harder (Hamilton Conference) in 2006.

Michaël is currently finishing his Masters degree in Religious Studies at the Université de Montreal. He was a representative of the Faculty at the World Forum on Theology and Liberation, which ran parallel to the January 2007 World Social Forum held in Nairobi. Last year, he was a participant in a Montreal inter-religious exposure trip to Israel and Palestine that was co-sponsored by the United Church' s Ministères en français (French Ministries Unit). Michaël is an adherent of Église St.-Jean in Montreal, and in the process of seeking membership there through his pastor Theirry Delay. His background is Roman Catholic.
