AN ALTERNATE LOGISTICS ARRANGEMENT: As an alternate arrangement to that discussed under the previous three headings, an arrangement of production might be worked out with an organization such as KAIROS where each interested denomination would give a guarantee of purchasing a certain number of copies of the materials.

Theological Rationale:

WHEREAS war has proven itself to be an ineffective means to peace and security, transmitting and amplifying hate from one generation to another; and

WHEREAS the success of the struggle against war depends greatly on the awareness and practice of the concrete alternatives to war;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Woolastook Presbytery hereby petition General Council, through Maritime Conference, to create an education program:

1. that would increase awareness of the alternatives to war as a means to peace and security;
2. that would facilitate the practice of the alternatives to war as a means to peace and security;
3. that would include alternatives that may be practices by states, non-government organizations and individuals;
4. that would include the use of concrete examples, the development of ideas, the sharing of experiences as well as any other appropriate measures;
5. that would be appropriate for use by congregations and other bodies of the church;
6. that would be meaningful for a variety of age groups; and
7. that would, where advisable, be developed in cooperation with our ecumenical and interfaith partners.
